The Secunda series comes close to creating its own genre of fantasy there are no easy answers in Collins' work, no cliched characters - no sense that anything fits into a neat little box or that any storyline follows an obvious arc. It's edge of your seat reading with a healthy dose of "did that really happen?" moments to keep you turning to the next page.
And it's bloody. Oh is it bloody.
Having read the first two books in this series I can honestly say that I have no idea where all of this will end up. But I know it will have the pace of a racehorse, I know it will cross boundaries between worlds, and I know I'll be unable to put the book down once I start reading it.
i really couldnt get inot the book so i didnt finsh it. it might just be a very interesting read if that the kind of story a person likes reading about
It could be just me, but the focus on the spiritual/magical part of the storyline over the detailed battles of the first book was quite a disappointment.
Swords of Secunda doesn't disappoint the followers of the Secunda series. The second volume in the series, Swords continues the blood thirsty gore of Shields as Uthiel continues his march to the White Frontier.
Full of colourful imagery, deep character development and a few twists and turns, I recommend Swords to even the most sensitive of readers.
I have to admit, I don't think I would want to take a ride in Adrian's imagination! The second Secunda book was awesome! There seems to be more background and what's going on in the heads of the characters in this book. Once again, though, the battles are crazy...crazy good! As for the main dude. Not sure if he's a God or demon, friend or foe. It has kept me up at night reading and frustrated knowing I'll have to wait for him to sit his rump down and type, type, type!
